Mount Nathan Winery is a family-owned boutique winery nestled in the picturesque Gold Coast Hinterland. Our Cellar Door is the perfect place to embark on a journey of discovering the very best wines in the region.

Our story

With a deep-rooted passion for winemaking that has been passed down through generations, it all started with George Gibson, who founded the Central Coast Winery Pty Ltd in the 1970s, with the invaluable assistance of his son Peter. Together, they embarked on a journey of experimentation, exploring various winemaking techniques, from traditional grape varieties to the use of assorted fruits, vegetables, and even honey.

Driven by a desire to expand the family business, Peter delved into extensive research on the South-East Queensland wine-making industry. In 2002, he founded Mount Nathan Winery, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our family's winemaking legacy.

The early years of 2005-2006 proved to be a turning point for Mount Nathan Winery. Peter and George's creation of the honey fortified wine Winter Original brought unprecedented success. This unique creation, which was further expanded by Peter's son Paul, gained immense popularity and even won the prestigious Double-Gold Medal at Hong Kong's China Wine Awards in 2012.

Building on this success, we have continued to expand our offerings and cater to the international tourism market. Our range now includes fruit-infused honey wines and premium fortified wines, all available for tasting and purchase.
