About CHI the Spa (Shangri-la Hotel)

CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, draws inspiration from the origins of the Shangri-La legend, a place of personal peace, enchantment, and well-being. CHI massages and treatments are based on authentic natural healing methods found in traditional well-being practices shared by many Asian cultures. CHI, The Spa, also features treatments highlighting Australian healing techniques and botanical ingredients indigenous to the region, including lemon myrtle and eucalyptus. The spa uses products that are environmentally friendly and naturally processed, ensuring that the body receives the full potency of the purest plant essences and marine algae extracts. In traditional Chinese philosophy, ch'i or “Qi” is the universal life force that governs well-being and personal vitality. For good health to be maintained, it is believed that ch'i must flow freely within the body, and, when blocked, "disease" and illness follow. Movement is therefore a key element in releasing blockages. Body massage, exercise, stretching, hydrotherapy, and movement of the mind through relaxation and meditation combine to assist the body's natural renewal and form the basis of the CHI spa philosophy

We had the lavish package incl One hour massage, half an hour, facial and high tea For two people. We arrived around 11 am, Down to the spa and greeted And booked in shown to a locker and given robe and slippers. The staff were amazing and very friendly. Then we. headed to the gym for a short workout. This is a large gym well equipped with cardio and weights and lots of machines as well. Big mirrors, towels and water. Reasonably clean, some of the equipment is a little worn but it is all great. Much better than most hotel gyms then we got changed and headed to the pool. It’s a lovely big pool with a nice outlook. The doors were closed, could’ve been open in the nice weather for a nice view and onto the Terrace. The pool itself is quite old and a few missing tiles and very dirty grout. The water is super clean and nice to swim, but a little offputting having All the grout lines looking dirty. Great spa, a couple of nice lounges to lay by the pool and not too busy. We then Took a shower, Really nice showering and changing facilities fully equipped with Everything you need to freshen up. Then we went for the high tea level 36 which has the most amazing view. On the package you are placed in a particular seat, the cheap seats one would say, But every single seat in the house has a view. My daughter could see the Opera house I could see Out towards Crown Casino. Very nice atmosphere the food came on a three tiered platter and had four different mini bites that were savoury, four different sweet mini bites and four scones with jam and cream. The food was pretty good, Too much weighting towards sweet and not enough savoury for us. Felt a little bit unhealthy And too much sugar. Again the service was great and very attentive continually filling up the water. The highlight of the visit was then our Amazing massage and Facial. Beautiful room, Expert staff, Gorgeous product, heated massage table with spring loaded headrest proper sheets and just so luxurious. I would definitely come for another massage here it’s a lot more expensive than your regular place but it is completely different experience much more luxurious and indulgent. Highly recommend for that reason, but I would not recommend the high tea Unless you are keen to have sweet treats more than savoury – otherwise I think probably lunch would be better.

Did the 60 min Deluxe five-star Shangri-La spa package. Highly recommend. First you change into a role and slippers, then you pick your oil and climb into a heated bed with silk sheets, then have a 30-minute massage & 30 facial or scrub (opted for the scrub). It was amazing. The scrub is a dry scrub with a loofah but boy do they scrub you! So great for circulation and health. At the end there was a choice of sparking wine, tea or coffee + a little chocolate + amazing freshly made scones with the best jam and cream. All are served to you on a room service trolley while you relax with your feet up and your robe/slipper on. 5 star all the way. Natasha was my therapist and she was wonderful.

What a lovely experience. We had lunch + 60 min spa offer. Lunch is at Altitude overlooking the view. Superb 5 star food, glass of lovely sparking included (hint -share an entree and dessert and then have your main each). Then down to the spa which was such a lovely experience. First you get in a fluffy robe with slippers (wonderful sauna you can use as well) then you pick your oil, the beds are heated (never experienced that before) and the aromas are lovely. Afterward you have a tea. Beautiful day out. Highly recommend.
