Am I the only one who never has time to plan, shop & cook my own meals?
I just can't seem to fit it into my incredibly busy schedule of Work & Netflix.
But kudos to those that manage to do it every single day.
Luckily there’s an entire industry out there working to solve our first world problem - the Meal Kit Delivery industry.
For clarification, no I’m not talking about Uber or Deliveroo... that's another kettle of fish that requires a separate article.
I’m talking about Youfoodz, HelloFresh & Marley Spoon.
Essentially the Home Meal Kit industry is one that looks to simplify our lives by providing healthy, tasty & convenient meal kits at a low price.
Each company has its own flair, to help them stand out. But what does each company offer? Which one is the best for me? Which one offers Pizza?
Okay, that last question is just my cravings talking.
Personally, I’ve heard many people speak of these companies (which I’m sure you have too), but I need to know more!
So I've gone ahead and researched each company to get more information on what they have to offer.
To provide us with an unbiased outcome, I will be scoring them based on their Convenience, Variety, Price & Trustpilot score (for good measure).
Youfoodz is a widely popular Ready-to-Heat meal delivery network, offering home delivery to over 3,000 locations across Australia. They boast a “fresh, not frozen” policy, with meals lasting between 6 to 9 days in the fridge.
Convenience
Youfoodz sources high quality, farm-fresh produce which is then prepared & packaged the day prior to being delivered!
Their meals are “M.A.P” sealed (which stands for "Modified Atmosphere Packaging").
This essentially means your food is vacuum-sealed. The process removes all oxygen from the meal, allowing it to stay fresher and tastier for longer.
Gone are the days of slaving over the stove every Sunday, meal prepping for the following week. With Youfoodz, you can order an entire week’s worth of food knowing it will still be fresh and delicious when it comes time to dig in!
Variety
Youfoodz has a HUGE range with over 60 ready to eat meals, 5 fruits and veg boxes, 3 soups, 5 breakfasts + a ton of snacks & drinks!
Price
Unlike many of their competitors, Youfoodz does not charge a subscription service.
You just pay-per-meal.
Prices will vary from meal to meal but on average you can expect to pay between $6.95 & $10.95 for a single serving (premium meals will cost a little more / snacks & drinks will cost a little less).
Price Breakdown:
5 meals a week (with an average price of $8.95) would cost roughly $44.75/week.
7 meals a week (with an average price of $8.95) would cost roughly $62.65/week.
10 meals a week (with an average price of $8.95) would cost roughly $89.50/week.
