The Area: Marysville, Victoria
Drive just an hour and a half from Melbourne and you’ll find yourself at the foothills of the city’s closest alpine resort and its villages, of which Marysville is one. The quaint town has long been a favourite destination of city slickers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of every day life and head to the great outdoors. As a visitor to this tranquil town, you will never at a loss as to how to spend your time, with more outdoor activities than you can poke your hiking stick at. The choices are plentiful and include hiking, bike riding, picnicking, frolicking, bush walking, and pondering life as you sit atop a cliff and gaze out at the spectacular views. When darkness falls, head out into the town to experience culinary delights and local art. This town is big on its small town charm, a refreshing change from the big smoke.

The rooms though were excellent and spacious. We had breakfast in the cafe, which was obviously just opened, and were very impressed by the menu which offered some interesting and delicious alternatives to the standard hotel breakfast.
